In autumn 2025, Mectalent Oy strengthened its growth strategy by acquiring TeknoComp Oy. The acquisition is a strategic step that supports Mectalent’s continued expansion and reinforces its position in the market.
TeknoComp Oy is a machining company based in Ruukki, specialized in subcontracted machining and precision mechanics. Having provided machining services since the 1990s, TeknoComp has accumulated three decades of experience. Its extensive expertise and broad machinery base will support Mectalent’s growth following the acquisition.
Mectalent and TeknoComp share a commitment to uncompromising quality and a continuous drive to improve customer service. Like Mectalent, TeknoComp places strong emphasis on operational development. The acquisition allows both companies to invest more extensively in development and innovation, bringing together the deep expertise of both organizations.
A Strategic Step Toward Growth
Mectalent is a leading expert in product development, advanced device manufacturing, and precision mechanics. The company’s growth strategy focuses on three strongly expanding business areas: the defence industry, health technologies, and new technologies.
Through growth, Mectalent strengthens its position across its core business segments. The acquisition of TeknoComp is a strategically important step forward, enhancing Mectalent’s capability to serve as a comprehensive expert partner in large and demanding projects.
“We see promising opportunities across all our business areas. Our strategy requires increased production capacity, which makes the acquisition of TeknoComp a highly significant strategic move,” says Tapio Harila, CEO of Mectalent.
TeknoComp Brings Additional Production Capacity and Expertise
TeknoComp is well known for its long-standing machining expertise and diverse production capabilities. For Mectalent, employing top professionals in the industry is essential to ensuring superior quality and customer satisfaction – even in highly demanding projects. Approximately 30 professionals from TeknoComp will join Mectalent, further strengthening its competence base.
Through the acquisition, Mectalent gains access to additional critical machinery and a new production location. Operating with two sites enables more flexible management of workloads and peak demand, improving risk management and enhancing responsiveness in large-scale project execution.
“Overall, the acquisition further strengthens our capabilities to manage extensive entities and large projects, which is a key part of Mectalent’s growth strategy and core operations,” CEO Tapio Harila explains.
The acquisition also helps secure Mectalent’s cost competitiveness in production going forward. One of TeknoComp’s core strengths lies in cost-efficient long-run manufacturing.
TeknoComp will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary. This approach allows the company to maintain its agile, low-hierarchy organizational structure while benefiting from being part of a larger entity.
A Strong Contract Manufacturing Partner – Mectalent Responds to Market Needs
The acquisition of TeknoComp strengthens Mectalent’s position as a sought-after contract manufacturing partner, particularly in advanced device manufacturing. Demand for large-scale production projects is especially strong within Mectalent’s core business areas: the defence industry, new technologies, and health technologies.
“With this acquisition, Mectalent further strengthens its ability to serve as a key partner in the production of demanding components and in providing comprehensive support to our customers,” summarizes CEO Tapio Harila.
