Partner for growing industries: Avetak acquisition continues Mectalent's growth strategy

Written by Mectalent | Aug 12, 2026, 7:22:47 AM

Mectalent's customers are growing rapidly in the defense industry, new technologies, and medical technology. We want to be a partner that anticipates our customers' needs rather than merely reacts to them. The acquisition of a majority stake in Avetak in April 2026 continues our growth strategy. Through this acquisition, we can deliver larger and more demanding projects to our customers.

Our customers are developing their products and scaling up production at an accelerating pace. For us, this translates into larger delivery volumes, broader projects, and new requirements for manufacturing and development. To provide broader, more versatile, and more individualized manufacturing, we are strengthening our capabilities, increasing our capacity, and expanding our operations geographically through planned acquisitions. The acquisition of TeknoComp—a subcontract manufacturer of precision-mechanical components—in autumn 2025 was the first concrete step in implementing our growth strategy.

Strategic growth continues: Avetak strengthens Mectalent Group

The Avetak acquisition strengthens our group by bringing strategically important capabilities, increasing production capacity, and sharing the same values. Founded in 2015, Avetak provides customer-oriented machine shop services to a wide range of industries. The company has developed and invested in its operations with determination, and its business has grown strongly over the years. Responsibility, long-term partnerships, and diverse projects across industries have guided its work from the very beginning. Avetak's goal is to be a reliable partner that adds value and serves customers individually and with a solution-driven approach from project start to completion.

"We share the same vision for the future and a strong will to move forward together. We create value for customers through comprehensive services, a service-minded approach, and high quality. With greater capacity, we can grow at the pace our customers need," says Helmi Laitinen, CEO of Avetak.

Broader expertise and increased capacity to support our customers' growth

Avetak brings additional machining and assembly capacity to Mectalent Group. It expands our service offering into three areas of expertise: demanding welding, sheet metal work, and surface treatment. Avetak operates at three locations in Southern Finland. Its machine shop, including process planning and machinery, is in Mäntsälä, assembly and modification work is carried out in Hämeenlinna, and machining in Askola.

Avetak significantly broadens the group's machinery base. In sheet metal work, the equipment includes options such as fiber laser cutting (sheet and tube laser, 4 kW), press braking, and plasma cutting. Surface treatment can be carried out both as wet painting and as automated powder coating. The wet painting facility can accommodate large workpieces (max. 9 x 2.5 x 3 m, L x W x H).

Years of experience in demanding welding

Avetak has a comprehensive range of MIG, TIG, and stick welding equipment, and its personnel are accustomed to a wide variety of manufacturing work. Through consistent investment and years of experience with challenging projects, demanding welding has become one of Avetak's core competencies.

"Carrying out demanding welding requires a great deal of experience, knowledge, and skill. We have performed demanding welding for years and are a specialized shop for varied and demanding manufacturing. I believe that with this experience, we can bring significant added insight to Mectalent's customer projects as well," says Laitinen.

Certified quality guides operations across the group

Avetak's operations are certified to the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. Quality is monitored systematically throughout the manufacturing process. Its welding expertise is further verified by EN ISO 3834-2 and EN 1090-1 certifications, which set strict requirements for welding processes, material control, and documentation. Welder qualification is overseen by a specialist holding International Welding Specialist (IWS) certification.

Certified quality management guides operations across all units of Mectalent Group. Processes are documented, and operations are systematic, transparent, and based on customer needs. This ensures that our ways of working are familiar and predictable regardless of which unit carries out the project.

Expanded Mectalent Group now offers an even broader range of services

We can now offer our customers a wider selection of services and more flexible capacity. We make cooperation with our customers as smooth as possible. Our principle is that the customer deals with a single point of contact, regardless of which unit's expertise is used in the project.
