Mectalent has entered into an agreement with the Estonia-based company Grab2Go for the design and manufacturing of automation equipment for an autonomous store controlled by artificial intelligence.
Grab2Go has developed an AI-based convenience store technology that analyzes consumer behavior and purchasing dynamics. Based on the data, the store's processes can be effectively organized to serve customers.
"We have big plans – with the first pilots, we want to prove that ours is a solution that changes the conception of convenience stores, just like Amazon Go did, however, our format is completely different," says Reio Orasmäe, co-founder and sales director of Grab2Go.
Grab2Go's store concept is built around a modular and fully autonomous store unit. Customers can make purchases on-site or place an order through the web and pick up their order when it suits them best. Real-time inventory tracking notifies the merchant when stocks need to be replenished and much more.
Mectalent brings to the project its expertise in automation and mechanical design as well as in equipment manufacturing. The conception and design of the store unit's physical environment is handled in Oulu, Finland, as is the manufacturing of automation equipment controlled by artificial intelligence.
